What was old is new again
The first challenge was removing the asbestos from this 1950s build, both inside and out. The asbestos was out and taken away by the end of week one, leaving the house as nothing but a frame with a roof!
This can be an expensive process at the best of times, so an affordable material was needed to reclad the exterior. That’s where Cemintel Cladding Sheets come in!
With a material cost of just over $3000, Shelley was able to reclad her entire house with a safe, Australian-made product. With a wide range of sizes available to suit a variety of wall heights and widths, she was able to minimise waste and installation time, and therefore cost.
“I was incredibly surprised at the cost effectiveness of the Cemintel sheeting. So much so, that we could afford to do the adjacent garage as well all within the budget. I know that the words ‘asbestos removal’ certainly have the ability to scare people off a renovation project, but knowing that you can reclad your home with a superior product within a tight budget is amazing.”
They can easily be painted any colour you want, and Shelley didn’t shy away from making her façade stand out!
“Pacifico Cottage was built in 1950 and although I am a huge fan of ‘retro’, there is always a level of comfort and modern living that you need to consider when renovating. So our choice of colour and styling was a nod to mid-century in 2020.”
